1960s Dance Party

One of Sam’s favourite dances in the 1960s was called the Twist. It is good fun and great exercise!  Get some friends together and see if you can do it. Sam danced it with her friends at parties in Greenwich Village in Manhattan.  See who can keep it up for the longest time!  The video underneath shoes you how to do it - good luck!

60s Music
Some of Sam’s favourite bands and singers in the 60s were The Monkees, Melanie and Sandy Shaw. 

She would have called the tracks 'pop records' and bought them as circles of vinyl called singles, to play on a record player.  They came in bright coloured covers called “sleeves” like this. Girls and teenagers saved their pocket money to buy the latest records in the “hit parade” as they would have called the charts and then took them round to each others’ houses to play them and dance to them.  You could try designing a single sleeve for your favourite bands today.
